The second instalment of RMH's partnership with Funnel Music!
Atmospheric electronica and triphop: LTO, The Desert & Liotia
Bristol-based LTO first made waves as part of mysterious electronic collective Old Apparatus. As a solo producer, he has since attracted attention with his praised debut LP "The Number From Which All Things Come" and subsequent ambient/modern classical-focussed "Storybook“ LP. He has since expanded on that classical sensibility, creating a highly expressive and nuanced release 'Déjà Rêvé'.
LTO's formula is a beautiful and remarkable: complex piano arrangements, ethereal soundscapes, elegant orchestration and floating ambience, all perfectly placed in a rich cinematic landscape. LTO creates an ingenious dramaturgy, inducing different moods, from dark to light, with an inimitable depth and irresistible suction.
"Haunting and comforting in equal measure" – MOJO (4/5 review)
"Like memory preserved in nostalgic aspic” – The Independent
“Blurring the lines between the organic and machine-made... Takes nebulous sounds and crashes them with the clatter of machine rhythms… Brilliant.” - Hyponik
The Desert are Gina Leonard and Tom Fryer: an irresistible duo who delve into trip-hop, folk, rock, and electronica. Their reputation as a live outfit is growing by the minute, and we are thrilled to finally have them here in Ramsgate following their signing with Funnel.
"Practically perfect in every way..." - BBC Introducing
"Gone will have people believing that the future of trip-hop has arrived." - The Review
RMH favourties Liotia are an electro-acoustic duo who create an enchanting and truly unique ensemble of original sounds, licks and melodies. Fusing electronica, triphop and jazz influences, Liotia combine the guitar and voice of Abigail Hubbard with the digital soundscapes and drum machine of our very own Matthew Smyth.
Essential for fans of Portishead!
