Entry Requirements: All Ages
Dan Lyons better known as the drummer for bands like – Fat White Family – Phobophobes… now resides in Margate.
‘Quintessential surrealist Anglo – pop’. Shades of Echo & The Bunnymen and ‘Rubber Soul’ era Beatles entwine with lo-fi sensibilities of The Go Betweens and Syd Barrett.
Born in Kent he moved back from London last year with his (romantic & musical) partner Freya Warsi.
Last year saw Dan step onto centre stage performing with a host of musicians from the South London music scene to form his backing band.
Songs on Dan’s debut were written between Paris and London during a long, difficult summer crowded with personal loss and intrepid soul searching, painting a picture of intricate city life and his fragile heart.
2018 started with a two week stint in L.A. and SXSW Festival, plus the release of his highly anticipated debut single ‘Big Moon’.
This month follow up single ‘Gargoyle’ drops and the video was directed by Katia Ganfield and shot by the chief documenter of the South London music scene, Lou Smith... It was filmed at the Walpole Bay Hotel in Margate.
So Young Magazine ––– “...a work of almost breath-taking beauty, marrying the cohabiting ideals of sin and redemptive innocence...”
M Magazine ––– "...a pocketful of dreamy monologues dripping with the psychedelic melancholy of Nick Drake or Syd Barrett”
